North Valley General Manager, Irrigation and Construction

Our client is looking for a self-motivated, exceptional General Manager for its Northern California Region. As a key member of the leadership team, the General Manager will lead all aspects of sales, construction and warehouse operations in the Northern California region. We are looking for a strong hands-on leader with a proven track record in the scaling of a business growing rapidly. This role will report to the CEO. 

This person will be passionate about understanding employees’ needs and creating solutions that maximize their performance. The leader is expected to be a team player that lives the company’s cultural values, sets an example for others, and puts systems in place to constantly enhance the culture. They should also be able to execute tactically in player-coach mode as needed, as well as having the strong communication skills to inspire others in their role as a team builder and strategic visionary. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES-

Drive Sales and Sales Management of Direct Sales Efforts Across Region

 1. Conduct weekly check-ins with account managers within reporting line – individually and in groups. Ensure team members are effectively executing on their individual responsibilities. 

2. Investigate market trends, industry movement and identify opportunities.

ii. Establish and encourage positive culture and “we” mentality amongst regional team-coordinate quarterly team building events.

iii. Ensure deliverables and communications to other departments are effective in driving sales and efficient execution throughout project lifecycle.

iv. Ensure CRM system is consistently complete and accurate.

v. Shadow team members quarterly

vi. Assist team in customer meetings as needed. Ensure opportunities initiate and takeoff in the right direction.

vii. Attend design construction prioritization meetings and assist regional design/estimation managers in ranking of projects.

  • Maintain and expand relationships with portfolio of customers.
  • Drive new revenue with existing customer base through new product offerings and upsell opportunities
  • Collaborate with the sales team to grow market share in underdeveloped territories.

Operations Management and Problem Solving

  • Supervise daily operations including the management of construction and warehousing.
  • Understanding of customer needs, wants and practices when it comes to warehouse parts and construction practices.

Collaborate with team members in all departments.

  1. Attend weekly sales, construction, and design meetings and be prepared to prioritize jobs and manage the pipeline as a team.
  2. Work with Designers and Estimators to develop cost effective solutions to customer problems.
  3. Communicate with Purchasing, Warehouse, and Project Management throughout jobs to achieve successful completion.
  4. Assist Sales & Billing Coordinators with customer invoicing and collections.

v. Conduct yourself with professionalism in customer dealings and relationship with coworkers; work collaboratively with immediate. 

• Staff Management of Recruiting, training and managing staff in accordance with plan 

of Set performance expectations and perform feedback on team members 

Essential Qualifications:

Understanding of N. Coast/Lodi/Sacramento Valley markets, including customer needs and long-term trends.

Proven ability to execute sales and marketing strategy.

Ability to develop creative selling solutions.

Comprehensive understanding of highly technical, long cycle sales

Comprehensive understanding of rental pipe business and drip irrigation infrastructure projects including construction and design.

Proven ability and tools to influence and drive change across organizations.

Proven ability in budget management and forecasting

Ability to think strategically but also focuses on tactical and operational issues.

Experience in high growth or evolving business; understanding of how to unify a sales team in changing conditions a plus.
