Established vertically integrated Organic Farm Operation in Central Oregon seeks an experienced Farm Manager who is passionate about Organic Farming. The Farm Manager will plan, coordinate and oversee all aspects of farm production. This is a Full Time, Non-Exempt position reporting to the CEO/CFO.

Summary of Job Expectations and Scope of Duties:
The Farm Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of farm operations. The Farm Manager must understand Organic and Biodynamic farming methods, be familiar with USDA Organic regulations as delineated by the National Organic Program (NOP) and be familiar with Organic inputs and the OMRI guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage seasonal work activities and direct daily farm operations.
- Use Organic and biodynamic farming practices to build soil health.
- Have a good understanding of irrigation system management and maintain practices to prevent erosion.
- Collect soil samples and analyze results to take appropriate actions for soil health.
- Monitor for pest and disease issues, taking appropriate measures consistent with certified organic practices.
- Develop and maintain a staffing plan to meet seasonal needs and work flows.
- Working closely with the Purchasing Manager to maintain inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for each season and crop phase.
- Maintain records and manage the system guidelines for SOPs.
- Farm Ops: Develop reporting and accounting procedures and manage budgets.
- Perform oversight of farm staff, including the Assistant Farm Manager and field crew. Manage personnel based on best practices.
- Provide training and guidance for new field staff and coordinate with Human Resources to ensure timely compliance with new employee paperwork, performance reviews, and training.
- Monitor employee performance and efficiency, providing training as needed for proper handling of equipment and crops.
- Organize and conduct safety training for all equipment and assure that safety precautions and procedures are followed.
- Coordinate with the Production and the Product Development Departments to plan operations and harvest activities, making sure all needs for raw materials are filled.
- Diagnose and solve agricultural production problems.
- Oversee the maintenance of all farm and processing equipment, which is the responsibility of the Farm Mechanic. Make sure that maintenance logs are kept current.
- Run production floor reports, such as batch paperwork, invoices and schedules.
- Coordinate with the Production Department to schedule the delivery of raw materials.
- Maintain open communication with all departments and stay abreast of sales promotions to ensure proper production planning.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Fluency in English
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) required
- High School Diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in agriculture, horticulture, or related field is a plus, but not required.
- Forklift certification may be required
- CPR and First Aid certification required
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years in farming, agriculture, or related field required
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory role, successfully leading and developing teams
- Minimum 2 years in a management/leadership role

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move rapidly and frequently
- Ability to handle up to 75 lbs. occasionally, with or without lifting aides, and up to 50 lbs. frequently
- Push/pull hand trucks and pallet jacks containing products of substantial weight occasionally
- Exposure to dust/fumes, moving mechanical parts, and operating heavy equipment
- Combination of indoors and outdoors
